Denise and Mike Hountalas, the proud owners of the Purple Place Bar and Grill, purchased the restaurant in 2006. They quickly became a beloved restaurant for many El Dorado County residents and those passing through the area. The couple worked tirelessly to renovate the restaurant and make it the cozy and charming place it is today. The Purple Place is known for its delicious food and its warm and inviting atmosphere.
Ann White has worked at the restaurant for 29 years and still serves breakfast every morning. The couple began with 12 employees and have since grown the local landmark to more than 50 employees, enduring pandemic shutdowns.

El Dorado Hills’ roadhouse was the original of its kind in the area, with a cafe, sports bar, and dog-friendly outdoor patio. It is now famous for being family-friendly, with live music and great food. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all prepared from scratch, with homemade sauces and salad dressings. The biscuits are especially scrumptious and are made in-house.
